The durian may be the king of fruits as far as many people in Asia are concerned but the thorny-husked delectable’s distinctive odour can be off-puttingly overpowering and even its taste is not universally appreciated. Similarly, while the Golden Durians are indeed trophies doled out to representatives of Hong Kong cinema, some recipients may be none too pleased to be so distinguished since bc’s exclusive awards celebrate the best of the worst of Hong Kong cinema. However reluctant they are to accept such honours though, it is our feeling that some recognition of what they have accomplished (or not) is thoroughly deserved. So, without further ado, here is a run-down of this year’s Golden Durian winners...
